From the TEDxBangalore.com website:
TEDxBangalore is poised to be India's largest TEDx event with almost 1600 guests and is one of only a handful of city TEDx events in the nation. It is a completely nonprofit event and was conceived with the belief that amazing things happen when money is NOT the motive. And we are fortunate that this belief has been echoed by our Partners and Sponsors.
The theme for the inaugural TEDxBangalore is Challenge
Challenge Stereotypes. Challenge Innovation. Challenge Limits. Challenge Convention. Challenge Identity. Challenge Racism. What will you choose to challenge today?
We chose this theme with great care and think that its dynamism will be able to fairly capture and address the aspirations and issues that make Bangalore what it is. We are hopeful that over time we will earn your trust and become the preferred expression and discovery platform for our community and city.
BEAUTIFUL 3-D PRINTING
MAKERS: Carla Diana, Jessica Rosenkrantz
The first time you see a 3-D printer in action, it's awesome. The possibilities are as endless as your spool of filament! Carla Diana has channelled her love of technology and design into the picture book, LEO, the Maker Prince — where every character in the book can be printed. The founders of Nervous System also stop by to show how they're taking the patterns found in nature and feeding them into digital printers to make some of the most mind-blowing objects you've ever seen.
We are proud to be taking part in the Maker Faire Bay Area.
Join Carla at The Museum of Arts and Design during her Shapeways 3D Printing Residency March 11 through March 16, as part of the ongoing exhibition, Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital.
Hear more about LEO the Maker Prince: Journeys in 3D Printing, the world's first children's book about 3D printing, with objects you can download and make.
Come play with Carla as she works with Formlabs' High Resolution, light-based 3D printers and a full body scanner. And prepare to get scanned yourself!
Carla will be part of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's Celebrity Lecture Series on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 PM. Her talk is entitled, "How Our Robots Will Charm Us (and why we want them to)". She will talk about robots in our everyday life, and also offer a glimpse into the making of LEO. The lecture will be followed by a book signing for LEO the Maker Prince at 8:00 PM.
